Has anyone heard of these being sucked into the engine and writing it off?

Looks like a simple and cheap job to do but is it worth it or am I just being paranoid?

    Im going to go for it after christmas, can get the blanking plates from ebay fo £6 each, cant go wrong (famous last words)
