Hey Guys

I have a 320 CI 2001 model and as all cars it has its own mannerisms, clunks and bumps. This one has stumped me though and was wondering if anyone could shed some light on the issue? I'd say one in 10 times I start the car it seems to have a strange issue. If I turn the key and the engine fires after 2-3 chugs I know its going to be 100% perfect and not skip a beat at all. But every now and again it will take an unusual amount of time of churning and chugging before the car fires up, at this point if I drive the car it hesitates a LOT, theres absolutely no power in the car before 3k revs (and after that its horrendously reduced)...but if I turn it off immediately then back on again it will fire instantly and then run like a dream.

There are no lights on the dash and doesn't seem to have a problem at all running just a complete lack of power every now and again?!?

Anyone had a similar issue?

Hi There

I had a similar problem with a 750iL when I first got it. it was a computer issue and as far as I can remember disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery for 35 minutes solved the issue. It won't cost you anything so Its worth a shot!

good luck with it!!

thats worth a try

only thing i can think of is it could be one of the sensors on its way out? and not showing up yet, could be worth getting some one to scan the ecu if you no any one with one?

I'll try the battery thing its not been doing it recently since I switched to BP fuel only (small coincidental change maybe?), might be a bit of crap on something along the way?. I'll have a go at the battery terminal tomorrow and see if I can find a diagnostic kit from somewhere to see the problem
