Replacing an ECU that I’ve lost

Featured Replies

Hi, I don’t know if anyone can help me I’ve got a 2016 bmw F20 that I’ve had for years and it blew the engine in 2023. I stripped the engine bay completely like an idiot and only now got a donor engine in, but I’ve misplaced the original ECU from my car having moved house and garage and moving the car out from storage. Can I use the donor ECU in my car without cloning it as I can’t and just reprogram it to my vin as I’ve been told they’re locked to the chassis and been told to give up. If anyone can help me or has any advice on how to get around this would be much appreciated.

Thanks
