Both my dashboard and infotainment screen suddenly went dark while I was driving on a highway. After about 30 seconds it began to reboot and came back on. I looked it up and I see this is a known issue and they advised to hold the volume button down to reboot the systems. It happened again while I was stopped at a light and I did that, and it came back on. Why is this happening? This is really not acceptable with a new car and frankly makes me nervous about what other things might start going wrong. Any advice?

It could be caused by a dry solder joint on a PCB board or possibly a software issue either way not good. As you have evidence it is not an isolated incident go to your Dealer and they should fix it under Warranty

I stopped at my dealer and the service manager said it’s a known issue so not isolated to my car. He said it would take several days to go over the 20+ items in the computer system and then perform tests. He said there is no driving danger until I can get to the appointment.

Several days ??? and it's a known issue, if it known then there must be a solution ask them what it is? Talk to another dealer or BMW Customer Services
