Power Supply Problem

Featured Replies

Hi all, I Keep getting an intermittent power supply warning every now and then, usually at the end of a journey. I generally making motorway journeys 30 mile+. Anybody else seen this and what did it turn out to be? Im driving a 218d Gran Coupe. *Motorpoint ran diagnostic and tested battery, both came back good.

Morning Phil

Welcome to the Forum

First port of call for me would be Battery if it's original (high possibility) it's 5 years old. To check it properly Voltage should be checked at the charging points under the bonnet (not at the battery) engine off key out, the reading should be 12.5v minimum anything below that indicates a discharged or dying battery. Next test voltage at the same place engine running you should see 14.5v Minimum that indicates healthy charging.

Update: Had a new battery fitted yesterday and the warning came back on the dash today, tested the voltage whilst enginerunning and it was 14.8v so no issue there. Luckily still under Motorpoint warranty so its going back tomorrow.

Hi, I can only assume so, it was done by National Autocentres so you'd expect them to register it correctly. Everything's connected as it should be so I'll ask motorpoint to double check.

Thanks for the advice 👍🏻
