I have a 2009 650i that I just got and it has a coolant leak on the coolant transfer pipe that runs through the valley of the engine basically from the front side to the back and I've been looking at fixing it and at first it looked like I was going to have to remove the intake manifold and timing cover and a whole bunch of other stuff but after some research there's also a collapsible pipe and this other kit that you put an aluminum pipe through it or something I'm just wondering if anyone else has run across this problem I hear it's pretty common and if so is there any easier way to fix that or anything that you guys might be able to tell me. Thank you.

Morning John

Welcome to the Forum

Did a few of these on 2000 to 2005 V8's (including my own 4.6is) but not seen one for a long time from memory the only successful fix was to replace the sealing rings and in one case the aluminium pipe work as it had been damaged previously.

I have not heard of a "quick fix" I am afraid I would start with a search of realoem and study the drawings carefully, also if you can get access to ISTA or INPA check out the WIS (Workshop Information System)

Good Luck

Dave
