i have a 2023 model x5 and we were travailing on a motorway in the 3rd lane at 70mph when the car just braked to a standstill. I would like to know if anybody has had this problem

    Welcome to the Forum

    I have only ever heard of this once before and not with BMW but with a Mercedes S class the owner was on the M6 3rd lane morning traffic and the car just braked to a stand still (Brown Trouser Moment). He turned off restarted and all seemed normal continued his trip to work. He reported it to Mercedes who said bring it in checked it over and found no fault? A month later he had a reoccurrance the only common denominator was Active Cruise Control which he was using on both occasions

    Ask your Dealer to check the Active Cruise Control sensors as you should still be covered by Warranty
