My 116 has developed a judder under idle like a injection fault but I've had it on a scan tool no faults found anybody got any ideas

Welcome to the Forum

A rough idle can be caused by a number of things from an Air leak to as you say an injector issue. Is it 116i or 116d makes a difference in diagnosis If the scan tool was a generic tool it will miss a lot you really need a BMW specific tool

How many miles has it covered when was it last serviced (not just an oil change)

Hi dave it's a diesel car was serviced not long ago had new box as reverse gear  went, clutch was new at same time car done 101.000 scan tool was a snap on I think .

Hi

OK 101k is no great mileage so I would start by checking for any Air or Vacuum leaks on the inlet side initially. I would also check carefully the injector loom for any damge or cracking to the insulation. Go on line and get the test procedure for Injector loom and Injectors (test for resistance) Have the engine mounts been checked ?

Snapon is normally OK but it depends on the model some older ones revert to Generic codes

It's quite a new one not checked engine mounts will do later when I get home this weekend and have a look at wiring but if fault with wiring it would have thrown on emg light

Morning

Not necessarily I recently had an injector fault that randomly shut the engine down no codes no EML

The only way to find it was to actually run live data on the Diagnostic (INPA/ISTA) and drive the car when the fault occured I was able to record it. That was the only way to identify it

Make sure you check for any air and vacuum leaks a small crack/split in a vacuum hose The inlet has several hoses that rely on "O" ring seals are they all good
