My name 116d has a judder when accelerating, strong smell from exhaust and low mpg  I plugged a diagnostic reader in and it came up with EGR codes, I have replaced my EGR valve, map sensor mafs sensor and breather hose but still experiencing the same issues plugged in reader again still says egr codes and then bank 1 lambda sensor so replaced that and still have the egr codes. any one have any idea what it could be as have sunk loads of money into it so far and don't want to keep doing so

Hi Chynna

Welcome to the Forum

What Diagnostic Reader did you use although many readers will give a code they will be general rather than specific

A BMW capable Diagnostic reader will normally not just give a code it will also give a description of the fault helping in diagnosing a fault

It's just a generic reader unfortunatley

My neighbour who brought the iCarsoft reader was shocked the first time he plugged it into the car to discover it could read 21 Control Modules and over 100 sensors and related connections in the Bus system on his car so well worth the investment with even our local BMW specialist charges £120 per Hour and the Main Dealer over £200. It also alows service functions to be carried out. He is now much more adventurous with the things he can do.

My advice would be if you can get a copy of INPA?ISTA up and running on a Laptop it will allow Dealer Level diagnostics If that is to ambitious then the iCarsoft system is simple to use and only one step behind, plus it is self contained no laptop needed
