120i recommended oil and plugs to use

Hi,

Bought a 1 series 120i 62 plate with 113k last night. I'm looking to give it a service next weekend. And was hoping to get some input on the best or recommend oil and spark plugs to use please

Welcome to the Forum

I stay with Bosch or NGK spark plugs I use Mobil 1 or Castrol fully synthetic 5-30 grade, Oil filter Mann. Check if the fuel filter has been changed and check the Cabin filters

Hi, thanks for the input. Spark plugs were the ngk's so I changed them like for like.

I've noticed a ticking sound when I took all the plastics off to get to the engine. Doesn't sound like the chain, but the small pulley. Is this a common issue with these engines?

Cabin and Fuel filters are often missed particularly once the car is outside the Dealer network (ie end of Warranty) Idler pulleys are serviceable/changeable a ticking sound with all the engine covers off could also be injectors.

Hi, I have recently purchased a 2013 X5M50d. The centre console buttons, specifically Auto hold, camera button and downhill descent don't always work when pressed but DSC is ok. They seem to work whenever they decide to and also the Auto hold decides to turn itself off whenever it wants, normally the next time i get in the car. There are no signs of anything spilled or damage as far as I can see. Has anyone come across this before and how was the problem resolved? Thanks

Hello members, I’ve got a 2013 BMW M135i inspected. It has 86,000 km on it and the inspector gave it 3.5 stars out of 5. The only action required was that the engine oil level is low and needs topping up. The owner mentioned the car was serviced at 85,000 km, so I’m not sure whether the oil was properly topped up during the service or if the engine may be consuming oil. Should I be concerned about this before buying? Any advice from M135i owners would be appreciated. Thank you, Abhi

Hi All hope your well So he we go I have a Bmw 1 series I currently having some issues with first gear it will goes in when stationary. The min I try to pull forward it jumps out of gear. So my thought was it was the slave cylinder how ever I went to my local parts store and he questioned if it was that . Which then made we question it. the only other systems are the clutch pedal doesn't always retract to high and there is some build near the gear rode "sorry no it's not call that" but unsure wh

I know this has been dealt with a lot but my 2019 M240i stop start only works when the car is on eco mode and a/c off. It recently had a major dealer service and no issues were reported like low battery etc. Is there anything I'm missing or is this normal procedure? Thanks Dave

Hi everyone, I’m chasing a stubborn "No Communication with DME" issue on my UK-spec 2014 BMW 4 Series Coupe (420i, N20 engine, manual transmission, RHD).
