Hi guys, I’ve been having problems with the stereo on my 1 series and I bought a bundle (stereo, screen etc) on eBay.  Is it ok to just simply swap over or do I need to something else?

im not mechanically minded at all but I can swap the units over, just need to check if its that simple?

First you have a can of worms so don't take the lid of just yet 🤣

If your replacement is the same part numbers you may be lucky and get a straight swap. If not it may need coding to your chassis (anti theft) for it to work. Plus you could need an activation code from BMW

First check realoem to get the correct part numbers for your car 

It may be less hassle to take your existing unit to someone like Cartronics who have been repairing/upgrading BMW audio systems for years then it would be plug and play
