Catalyst delete

Good morning all. I am new to the forum so please bare with me.

I have a 320D, 2005, sitting at 175000 and runs like its only settling into 75k:clap:. Absolute gem.

My query is..... I am under the impression that it doesn't have a DPF (exhaust tip also points down ways) and just a cat, correct me if I'm wrong. If this is to be true, if I was to knock it through and have it hollow followed by a straight through (MID LIFE CRISIS!!!!!) would I need to have this programmed or would the ECU not recognise it has been knocked through.

I hope this isn't to cryptic and is as simple as I am, to read and understand. Thanks in advance for any info or help.

Morning Luke

Welcome to the Forum

Check www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box it will call up your model. Then look at the exhaust section it will tell you exactly what is fitted to your car.

Now your midlife crisis !! Is It more power? Or more noise 😁 there are lots of other ways to achieve them. A DPF or Cat delete (knock through) can end in an MOT fail

Hi greydog.

Thanks for the link, much appreciated. I'll get on to that ASAP and see what we have going on.

I am not looking for a big roaring sound, just something a little more throaty. And speed of course, I need more and more speed lol it has a stage 1 MAP with EGR delete and blank. I'm sure it's putting out 200BHP as it is. I was looking to add a bigger intercooler but im not too sure if I want to do that before other things yet.

I'm aware a cat delete can end in an MOT fail, but if it's hidden really well I'm sure it'll be fine😅 also, do you know if it will ne reprogrammed?

Again, thanks for your reply.

Hi Luke

As the great Carol Shelby once said " Speed costs money, How fast can you afford to go "

To have it done properly would need at the least DPF delete programming at best the delete plus an ECU remap. Don't forget suspension steering and brakes, not good if you have loads of power and all it achieves is a low 0 to impact time because you cant stop in time 😉

Or save your pennies and swap the car for a 330d a friend of one of our sons runs a 330d touring with uprated suspension and brakes it has a dyno tested 360whp

Good Luck

Enjoy your Beemer

Dave
