Hi

First time member, just changed my Mercedes 430 eclass for a 4 series 420i convertible.

Not as comfortable but much more fun to drive.

Can anyone please help me? I am looking to upgrade my entertainment system to include Android Mirror. I have looked on the web and 2 possible solutions are available.

1 Add a new module which will give me Carplay and Android Auto cost about £250

2 Recode my existing system to add Carplay and Android Auto cost about £30

Has anyone undertaken this recode and is it safe and reliable?

Also I need to fit an extra USB socket in the dash. I have looked on the web and it looks like there is an unused USB socket connector back of radio module. I can purchase a USB lead to connect to this socket will it work?

    As far as Android I would try the software upgrade first just on the grounds of cost

    The additional USB port should be OK but may need to be registered through the diagnostics do they say it's plug and play?

    No information with the USB lead just a picture. But there is deffanetely a socket on the sound unit masked USB.

    Worth a try if it's not to expensive, the E53 you could add an accessory socket/USB but the connector was hidden taped up in the loom behind the monitor/screen. BMW Dealers used to love charging folks for adding an accessory port 😅
