Hi! I’m new to the Bimmers and look forward to hearing BMW news. So, I’ve just bought myself a secondhand E88 convertible. All working fine until yesterday when the convertible roof decided not to work. It had worked perfectly until then. When I depress the roof down button, only the windows go down! I’ve read and re-read the handbook. I suspect a fuse issue, but does anyone out there have any ideas?

many thanks

Morning Jane

Welcome to the Forum

Just when the sun comes out !!!

I have only seen this once and it was the boot lid not closing properly due to a load of stuff in the boot. Opened the the boot took several items out and hey presto it all worked. So check the boot is closing and nothing in the boot restricting the space. Next check the fuses are OK and last make sure the roof is fully up and closed properly or it wont work.

Good Luck

Hi Dave, thank you for your advice. I had checked the boot space and the roof canopy was fully pulled out. Didn’t get round to checking the fuses, as suddenly, it worked again! there is a reset  button which I  pushed and that seems to have sorted it. Phew!

thanks again
