Hi Guys,

I am a complete novice at idrive systems so bear with me. 

I just purchased a 2018 BMW 118i M Sport and its the first BMW I have ever owned, so I was looking at the Infotainment system and the maps seem very out of date, also would be great to have carplay use as that is what I had in my old car.

Looking on the internet it seems as if there are options to enable carplay/upgrade maps using a code and files via USB, depending on what infotainment system you have. (I think I have got that right) but I cant work out if that is possible with my setup, Its seems to be an ID6 based system.

 

I contacted one guy online and he said it was not possible, so really I am looking for advice on how I can confirm what I have, what is possible and then what options I have available to me.

 

Any advice appreciated, as I said completely new to all this and its the fist car I have purchased in the last 10 years!!

    Welcome tot the Forum

    You can check one of the online Vin De-Coders which will give you a Build sheet for your car, that is important in case the Original buyer may have ordered something different to standard. Look for a code like S609A which is the Professional Navigation/Radio 

    Once you know what you have then you know what maps to purchase obviously OEM will be best but expensive from a Dealer, there are others out there supplying non OEM maps and codes not tried them myself.

    Apple car play I am sure you can enable that through the cars settings. Check for you tube help

    Mine is showing as the S609A, Which is showing as an ENAVEVO everything I can find online seems to suggest it cant be enabled. 

    Guess I will look at an MMI box or upgrade the screen if all else fails.
