Right so I’m in a bit of a situation at the moment. It’s a very long story.

someone has started to do a CIC from CCC retro fit on my 2008 X5. The screen, controller and CIC is on but it’s not working. It’s stuck in a boot cycle at the moment. The CIC has been coded to my VIn etc. The person who was doing it has left me in the lurch now and won’t answer my calls or get back in contact with me. Is there anyone on here who can help!!!

Morning Nathan

I have never attempted a conversion like this but my thoughts are

1. Once the parts are fitted and registered to the chassis you will need an enabling code or software

2. When the system was fitted did whoever fitted it use BMW ISTA/INPA to register all parts or another system?

3. The parts currently fitted all came from the same vehicle?

4. I hope that the new CCC hasn't been damaged

Have you checked good old Youtube to see if there is any Video help

Hi Greg.

thanks for commenting on the post.

he apparently did the software and coding. At one point the radio worked, and the SAT NAV. He said he had a problem changing the vehicle order and the build date to tell the car it now had a CIC fitted and not the old CCC. He said the reason was the FRM module and it was broken. Anyway. We changed the FRM module and that’s how it is now (as in the video I posted).

I have searched high and low for answers to what I need to do. I even put a new battery in. I’m stuck now. I can’t put the old CCC in because you changed wires around in the pins. It’s been like this now for nearly 2 months. Thought someone on here maybe able to give advice or know what to do

Morning Nathan

OK more information thanks, first I would back track over all work carried out check carefully the Pinout changes that have been made to the connectors also check carefully the Earth connections. BMW are very fond of using Earth connection triggers.

If one of the altered pinouts are incorrect you could have a damaged unit?

Now registration sequences, if your FRM was faulty it is quite possible the registration of the other components wasn't accepted. So what Diagnostic Program are you using ? If it is INPA/ISTA I would scan to check all units are being seen if they are then disconnect the battery for 30 mins (Neg first) When reconnected with the Diagnostic tool start with the FRM make sure it is registered correctly with all functions confirmed. Next same process with the CIC. If the pinouts are correct earth connections clean and in good order the units are registered correctly and the enabling codes are OK it should work, unless of course it is damaged or not compatible with your car.

Hi Dave.

sorry for the late reply. Been so busy.

the issue I have is I have no idea what he has done. I have no idea when it comes to wiring or coding. He really has left me in a horrible situation.

I can’t see it’s been damaged as it was previously working fine. He came out changed a few things and it worked on the way back from work a while ago. I got up the next day though and it’s gone back in the boot loop it’s in, in the video. What was quite strange though is the MPG and mileage I had done had also reset
