Hi I have owned the x1 2016 for 6mths and have had 3 separate issues with drive train error and goes into limp mode. The first was an egr valve, second was o2 sensor and now the fault has not given a code but has now gone I still have main dealer warranty for another 6mths but don't want to continue having  issues with drive train anybody had trouble like this...

Morning Allan

Welcome to the Forum

Is your Warranty with a BMW Dealer  or a General Dealer ?

Did they replace the EGR or clean it ? I assume that the O2 sensor was part of a DPF issue ? did they force a regen after replacing it ?

Sorry more questions than answers at the moment, EGR issues are normally associated with lots of short journeys where the emissions system doesn't reach full operating temperature and clogs up. This can have knock on effects to the DPF which again needs to reach full operating temp to begin it's Regeneration cycle (basically burning off excess soot) The EGR issue is not unique to BMW but just about all modern Diesels

Alan I’d get rid as soon as possible!  Anyone with an X1 around this age is sitting on a time bomb in my opinion

I have an X1 1995 diesel. My Drivetrain light came on but I had the recall letter re the EGR so I took it into BMW and they did a full health check. The fuel sensor (which BMW know is faulty by the way) had started forcing diesel through every sensor and lead and part of the engine you can imagine. The cost to repair would be thousands so basically my car is finished!  It has only done 48,000 had full service history and only one previous own!  Not what you expect from a supposedly high end manufacturer.
