Hi recently bought a used 1 series and found out that there is a fault with the  actuator, BMW told me it’ll cost about £3000 to repair luckily it’s covered with warranty. Is it worth keeping the car once the new actuator is fitted or shall I hand it back to the dealer and try and get another car to replace ?

Morning Mariano

Welcome to the Forum

Long gone are the days when a Garage took things apart and repaired them. Your Dealer is probably changing the Turbo Charger and Actuator as a unit which would probably account for the cost. So with a new turbo and actuator and assuming the rest of the engine is in good condition you will end up with a sound car, however with any thing mechanical stuff can go wrong.

You could argue you have no confidence but I suspect the Dealer will stick with the repair should it not be successful you would have a better chance

Thank you Dave . Everything seems ok other than the drivetrain fault. TBF when they handed me the car they’ll have to put 4 RF tyres plus others. That’s right they’re changing the turbo and actuator . Luckily I insisted on a 3 year warranty both mechanical and electrical rather than the 2 years they offered
