Morning Mark

Welcome to the Forum

When you say "computer" said fuel pressure sensor ? Was the computer a BMW capable diagnostic or something else ? Has the pressure been checked?

All it has told you is low fuel pressure not that the sensor is faulty ? So why is there no pressure Fuel Pump OK? Filter OK? Fuel Pump fuses OK? Fuel Pump Relay OK?

Sorry it seems to raise more questions but often a code will show a symptom not the fix

Thanks for your reply David, iv had the pressure sensor replaced and its still having difficulty starting, after 10/15 attempts it starts, but isn't performing properly.

What model is it? Petrol or Diesel? Who ever changed the sensor did they check the fuel pressure at the fuel rail? How many miles has it covered. Are the injectors leaking ? Is the fuel pump OK when was the Filter changed?

As said above the original diagnosis showed the pressure sensor wasn't seeing the correct pressure, the question is was it the sensor or something else ? if the symptoms still exist it must be something else

It's a 1 series, petrol, its done 90,000 miles,I don't have a clue about cars!!, but when u start it,its tryes and when u put foot on accelerator it just dies out, until u keep trying then it just starts .I don't know what it is the problem  David.

First when the issue was first diagnosed was it by a BMW diagnostic or a Generic OBD reader which gave you a code that said Fuel Pressure sensor ? I suspect the later

If there is no or low pressure in the fuel rail a Generic reader will not receive signal from the sensor so assumes it is at fault. However if the fuel pump is failing or the fuel filter is blocked there will be no or low pressure at the fuel rail. I would start at the pump and work forward pump and work forward, there was a known issue with fuel pumps a few years back which allowed metal particles into the fuel lines fouling filters and in extreme cases injectors.

If you can't DIY then find a BMW Specialist near you to first work out what the issue is, then fix it properly
