August 4, 20223 yr Hi, we got to the cause and for the last 2 months it’s been fine. It was the ignition switch 👍🏻 All of that trouble for something so cheap and easy. Hope you sort out your issue
May 13, 20232 yr New poster here, My 2006 bmw e53 x5 is having major electrical issues my windscreen wipers keep getting stuck or not running properly as soon as I start to drive I tried to have the battery changed but they advised me not to waste my money as the battery is only a year old I have no idea what it is going on. My seat belt sensor keep going off even with all passengers being buckled in any help would be greatly appreciated
May 17, 20232 yr Morning Dylan What sort of loony thinks that because a battery is a year old it's OK !!! Even new batteries can fail that is a simple fact. If you are not capable of checking it your self get help. First thing to check, is the Battery correct for your car it should be 90ah 720a Next check the Voltage at the charging points under the bonnet it should be 12.5v to 12.8v engine off anything below 12.0 would indicate a flat or dying battery Now with the engine running test the voltage again, you should see around 14.5 to 14.8 volts this would be from a healthy alternator Last thing to check are the earth points and engine earth straps If your issues remain and all other items above are OK then you need a Diagnostic scan which will help identify the cause Dave
July 14, 20241 yr hi i have an X5 which has seemingly transmission issues i have changed the filter solenoids and top with the fuel but the vehicle refuses to move had a diagnostic check and the guy informs me that the transmission is dead and need replacing, shouldn't i get some king of code informing me of the particular issue with the transmission and even if its dead as he says ,again should i be able to know why or what part is bad?
July 15, 20241 yr Morning Oswald Welcome to the Forum What was happening before you did the work? How was the transmission behaving? Why did you do the work? The ZF Trans in your should be a 5 speed you don't say how many miles it has covered or whether it has a service history that shows the Trans has been serviced (should be every 60k or so). Have all connections been checked all fuses ? You dropped the sump and filter are you sure you put control valve assembly back correctly when you changed the solenoids? I have read of motronic unit failures but they were rare, has the EGS been checked? Last but not least when you refilled the transmission fluid was it the correct type for the transmission? Wrong fluid will kill the trans. I have actually seen a trans that was diagnosed as "No signal" and dead by a Roadside Recovery mechanic it turned out to be the rear diff was toast Lot of checking to be done before changing the trans Dave
