BMW 3 series est, sunroof can't close

Recommended Posts

Hi guys new to the forum hope all is keeping safe and well. First BMW I've owned always wanted the estate 320d so bought old one to try as just passed my test after years of public transport living in London.

I've only had the car 2 weeks and the sunroof won't close Im no good with mechanic but I am learning to be an electricain and thinking of ooening the motor up and taking the plastics off to see if I can fix before paying £££s for what coukd be an hour job.

Any advice would be super. I know it's not the fuse as front panoramic opens and shuts but not wide just up and down, and back window is stuck open!! Only one button works both in abit confused. If you think it's best left to mechanic of appreciate your opinions.

Thanks Gaz

Morning Gaz

Welcome to the Forum

The old sticking sun roof, there is a rest sequence I have read about check the handbook and Google for help. If it won't reset then from what I have read repairs can be done stay away from BMW Dealers who will just want to change the roof Cassette at ££££. Google BMW Sunroof issues plus check www.realoem.com a BMW online parts list just put the last 7 digits of your vin in the search box it will bring up your model. It will ensure if you buy any parts they are correct. Then www.newtis.info a BMW technical site all information is used by Dealers.

In the 1960's 1970's and 1980's I had a number of cars with sun roofs none electric all manual all caused issues or leaked at some time. So I have searched for or ordered cars without ever since, aircon keeps me cool and traffic smells out.

Good Luck

Dave
