Hi

I have exactly the same problem with my 2015 640d

It started when I discovered that my phone connection had failed.

In the connection menu I noted that the bluetooth was turned off.#

I turned it on and started to connect my phone.

After 20-30 seconds the screen went blank and the screen rebooted.

It also wiped out all data from the satnav and the radio settings.

It then constantly worked for 20 seconds then rebooted again and again

I managed to get in and turn the bluetooth off

It is now staying on but my sat nav info has gone but able to tune in on radio but cannot save stations.

Dread to think how much BMW will charge to fix all.

Hope this might help.

If anyone has a fix please let me know

Thanks

Hilary

Hi Hilary

I would stay away from BMW Dealers for 2 reasons First the hourly rates are punitive (my local Dealer is close to £200p/hr) so if you are not able to DIY Google the BMW Specialist Register and find a local one to you. Second they wont repair they only replace components at Dealer price.

It sounds as though something on the Infotainment bus is not working and blocking the signal, it needs diagnosing. Not difficult but could be time consuming so a lower hourly rate is important.

A Specialist will have the correct software, knowledge and tools to do it as quickly as possible.

Or if you want to explore your Infotainment system yourself most of the components are in the boot, locate the "most bus" conductor and unplug it you should see a blinking light (the bus optical signal) if you see it re-plug and move to the next component if there is no blinking light the component before it is at fault and probably needs changing. Check www.realoem.com for where stuff is start from the Generator and work through the system. There are probably some "how to's" on You tube

Good luck

Dave
