Hello everyone,

i have a great 7 series msport and love it but thinking of getting something totally different, an Alpina D3 biturbo 2011. The car has done 98k miles.

my knowledge on this model of car is not great so I’m after some advice from you guys please,

-reliability issues?

-things to look out for and so on...?

Please share you knowledge and I look forward to your responses

thank you.

Hi Tom

Welcome to the Forum 7 series to 3 series well the first thing I think you will notice is ride comfort, compared to the 7 the D3 will be rock hard. From memory the power plant is the tried and tested 3.0 straight six twin turbo diesel these motors are pretty bullet proof as long as they are maintained properly and capable of Mega miles. If the service history is all BMW then at 98k I would find a ZF specialist and get the Gearbox serviced as BMW insist on telling us it is sealed for life!!

The next thing you should notice is power again from memory around 350 hp and 500+ ft/lbs of torque the thing is an M3 muncher and rare. If it comes off Pictures Pictures Pictures
