So i love my diesels....

Saved a few bob and bought myself a clean 2004 E46 320d M Sport Touring with 144000 (wanted a 330d but couldnt find a good one)

Owned the car about 2 months now and has been a joy to own, a decent amount of power, very comfy and good to look at....BUT

the last couple of weeks it has started to hesitate at cruising speed/low revs, accelerate and it clears and drives well again, a little anoying

i done some research, So i had a little list to do, Swirl Flaps, EGR clean, Vacuum Hose check etc, Wednesday on my way home from work

it got worse...Horribly miss firing, rattling, lumpy....Oh no not injectors.... (ps no managment light)

So this morning i thought right lets get this looked at, eventually removed the inlet manifold, turned her over......

3 of the 4 Swirl Flaps are MISSING!!!! šŸ˜ž

Is she goosed guys???????

Thanks in advance,

Steve.

Hi Steve...welcome to the Club

Ouch!!!Ā  I would definitely use a Boroscope to look down into the cylinders to see if there is any remains of the valves in there.

Alternatively, someone may have removed the other three and struggled to remove the fourth so left it there....being optimistic here!

Keep us updatedĀ on what you find

Cheers,Ā  Trevor
