Clutch Delay Valve

guys talk to me..... owned my first bmw, ever (f20 sport) since february the first thing i noticed were the really rough/out of sync gear changes, at first as with any car i thought it was just me getting use to the new car and clutch etc, however 5 month on and I'm starting to get really p*ssed off that i cannot get smooth gear changes mainly from 1st to 2nd, at first though it was just me so let my wife use the car for a week or so and she says exactly the same, its weird!!!!! its also a total pain in the a*se for clutch control when in traffic and its just generally for me starting to become the worst car I've ever driven :/

anyway following on from this, and doing a bit of googling, i hear people talking about this little pointless ##### of a device called a CDV CLUTCH DELAY VALVE and the removal of it, makes total sense of what happening with my symptoms, thus making the clutch action not in synch with the gear change.

now my question is, is it safe to remove and will the car be okay? i bought it outright so I'm not worried about modifying/ removing it, just intrigues to know if anyone has already done it, how hard? and did it work?

thanks guys, Macca

Its probably not something anyone here has done. People wont know what the question is before they read the post, so obviously you are likely to get a lot of views without an answer. This is the first time I have seen a post on the subject. The last time I heard about one of these valves was on a 1984 MG Metro.

To get to the point, I fail to see the point of the valve. I can only assume it is to protect the clutch from people unable to control their releasing the pedal smoothly. I cant see too much of an issue in removing it or probably better to replace it with one that works properly.
