  1. yes its quite simple, you won't have the business edition system, thus it can't be done, bluetooth handsfree only my friend.
  2. well after hours and hours scouring the net and lots of research and testing, i have finally bit the bullet and gone for a custom headlight build myself, as it appears no one seems to be interested in giving us a "repo" style plug and play alternative, so I've made one, everything works as it should with no can bus errors anywhere, DRL of oem brightness that will fade when xenons are activated. might not be to every bodies taste but the first unit is complete, all one piece with ballast and all harnesses embedded, literally ready to be plug and play fitted:
  3. full of life this forum, lol, 158views n not a single reply, quality forum....
  4. guys talk to me..... owned my first bmw, ever (f20 sport) since february the first thing i noticed were the really rough/out of sync gear changes, at first as with any car i thought it was just me getting use to the new car and clutch etc, however 5 month on and I'm starting to get really p*ssed off that i cannot get smooth gear changes mainly from 1st to 2nd, at first though it was just me so let my wife use the car for a week or so and she says exactly the same, its weird!!!!! its also a total pain in the a*se for clutch control when in traffic and its just generally for me starting to become the worst car I've ever driven :/ anyway following on from this, and doing a bit of googling, i hear people talking about this little pointless ##### of a device called a CDV CLUTCH DELAY VALVE and the removal of it, makes total sense of what happening with my symptoms, thus making the clutch action not in synch with the gear change. now my question is, is it safe to remove and will the car be okay? i bought it outright so I'm not worried about modifying/ removing it, just intrigues to know if anyone has already done it, how hard? and did it work? thanks guys, Macca
  5. glen, has it made the ride noise quieter as well, I'm about the change them on my 118d sport as the cabin noise is really starting to tick me off, and I'm putting this down to the steel walls in the run flats.... quieter?
  6. this sounds interested, I have a 118d and I have noticed very similar symptoms to what you descried, especially a lot of lag when setting off from around 1500ish rpm.
  7. Nah mate i dont worry about that, ive upgraded to xenon units on both my last audi a3's no washer jets or auto levelling, as long as the beam pattern and allignment are correct, thats all they care about, ive had no issues with either audis for last 7 year. Obv the xenon has to be in a projector lamp so you get the cut off line etc, hid kids in normal reflector get crazy light scatter yes that will fail. 👍
  8. yikes, ive just created more or less this exact post, before actually seeing yours, drop me a PM if you can mate to discuss, im all for it, and if you have already been the "guniea pig" and it went well, im all for letting you do mine. get in touch would love to discuss this with you mate. macca
  9. this is one real bug bear for me, having had OEM xenons on near enough all my previous cars, and having bought a 1 series sport that doesnt have them is really starting to rile me now, not only do they look gash, I find they give generally poor lighting also, in comparison to other halogen lights especially when on motorways or country lanes etc. As upgrading to the OEM angel eye/bi xenon is just pretty much out of the question due to price, I was wondering if this could be the way forward and anyone had a crack at a retrofit project, or like me considering the option, I may become the guinea pig if not as i really do want to do something with my lights, I have an old Audi A3 headlight sat in my garage doing nothing and some old HID kit stuff laying about, so am going to order a set of these and have a trial run: ive been doing some research and it looked pretty straight forward to do to be fair, my only concern is not knowing how much "butchering so to speak may be involved which is why once ive got hold of my kit im going to trial it on the A3 headlight, there are loads and loads of examples of all types of cars on this website i came across but here is a good one of an older style 1 series, and hes done a pretty daymn good job, seen as there are no aftermarket style projector lights on for our f20, its either OEM or lump it, and i think this could be worth a punt. http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/showthread.php?52722-BMW-128i-FX-R-and-Some-LED-s thoughts?
  10. id agree with the above, on a 2008, your lucky they are even offering to pay 50% id say just take it on the chin and pay it, plus youll have some sort of bmw warranty on it and paperwork/recipts for when you come sell it.... best of luck.
  11. Hi All, totally new to the bmw scene just bought my first beemer, a 2011 118d sport so far so good, I've always been a vag or jap man and my last two cars have been Audi A3 sline's I'm pretty sure most of you will agree is was a wise change lol, this is really the first experience I've had with bmw and i must say seems a really nice car, still don't get the whole "proper drivers car" saying they've always had, but hey ho maybe ill become more biased as time goes on... don't plan on doing a great deal of modification to it, perhaps at some point coilovers but the main thing i wanna do is an headlight upgrade to angel/xenon units, so ill be posting for some advice in the relevant section, or if there are any how to or whizz's that have already done the conversion do point me in the direction or make yourselves heard, here a pic of the motor. cheers, Marc
