Digital Tv

So my X5 had an Analogue TV/Video unit to which a separate DTV tuner had been added, which was OK but needed a separate remote and infra red receiver to control it.

BMW hybrid units are stupidly priced for what is basically old technology now, so I have been looking for away to upgrade the existing receiver it had to be possible? I was considering pulling it apart to do some reverse engineering but hadn't got around to it.

Then I found this http://pibus.info/tv/, Check it out, I purchased the kit and for less than £100 and converted my analogue unit to DTV. It really is as simple as it looks and says with only a little basic soldering required plus with the how too it only took 3 hrs with tea and biscuits. With great service from both suppliers it really is easy to do, I now have DTV and its controlled from the head unit, plus reception is much better than with the add on unit.

Next project buy a spare ULF and see if I can reverse engineer it to improve the BT so that I can have OEM BT phone control with A2DP
