Hi I'm new to this I'm having problems with my 2006 320d m sport I'm getting noise from engine round the turbo area and when revving it it goes louder I hope someone could help me as I've spent £££££ and no result so hoping for feedback thanks.

Is it a metallic noise? If so may be worth listening towards the back of engine (nearest bulkhead)

The 320d is notorious for timing chain failure which is on the back of engine on those.

If you catch it early it will save trashing the cylinder head, only down side is the engine has to come out completely to

Replace the chain and guides.

I have replaced several over the last year

Thanks for the quote been going round in circle from breathers pipes to full check over from bmw specialists I thought it was that as you idle high revs it sounds like it's rattling round that area could I buy the timing chain kit or is it supply and fit.

No problem, you can buy chain and guides for about £300 from

Bmw main dealer, there are a few pattern kits out there a bit cheaper

But personally something as important as that I'd go genuine.

It is fairly straight forward to do, I normally drop complete exhaust, heatshields and prop shaft

Take the gearbox off the back, then disconnected fuel lines, water hoses and wiring loom from ecu box leaving all wires connected

At engine, degas air con and remove pipes, unbolt the 2 engine mount nuts and engine pretty much lifts out.

Once it's on the deck it's a case of striping the back to get to chain.

I'd be inclined to replace all chains, sprockets, guides and tensioner.
