Hi People

New to these forums

Brought myself a E90 320d ED a month ago.

Must say I am impressed so far, as I'm getting about 55-60mpg going into birmingham every day for college, and in comfort and luxury compared to my old 1.2l Clio (good riddance to it).

Wanted to know whether it would be worth getting a Diesel tuning box, or a re-map?

Would this improve my mpg and power?

Or is it not worth it as I heard it can damage the DPF?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, Im 20 and this is my first BMW so I'm in need of some guidance !!

Thanks Guys :)

Guest Mr.Beemer

welcome to the forum Joshua - :)

good on fuel the 320d. you cant go wrong. nice angel lights there'

for a remap the dpf will be taken out so you wont have one. you will gain some power overall & little mpg.

I would say use the car for now & if the dpf starts playing up then simply go for the map! ;)

most boxes are just plug into f uel rail, and therefore just raise fuel intake, map for your car(if done right) will be done to specs on your turbo condition .clutch and gearbox, injectors pressure etc.as said dpf removal is a failure now but easily got round,so if you do remove it,get the dpf shell cut open, innards taken out, welded back up and deleted from the car along with the egr valve and eml light, simples

I had mine 320d remaped last month. I went for performance and MPG. very pleased with the result get around 12% more mpg 35 horses and 39 NM. I can definitely tell the difference. I used Rowdogz mapping in Leeds they are part of the Black Code. Would recommend.

is this obc reading or real life brim to brim coz the obc are useless

I do brim to brim if I can. Used some Shell v-power diesel and got 70mpg when I went to the Lake District and that's not driving behind a lorry at 56mph. Found my self driving between 70+ mph ;)

Accelerating gently downhill and easing the car uphill with the cruise control on the flat.

The obc was reading 71.2mpg so not that far off really. Iv found the OBC readings fairly accurate.
