hi ladies and gents,

I'v recently sold my 2005 msport 318i convertible but want to try a 4x4, something i've never drivenbefore. A range rover or an X5 have always attracted me. I want to know pros and cons of owning one, i.e.....issues like maintenance, taxes, insurance, resale (in case I don't get used to it,
what model would be easy to get rid of) etc. Also, what do I need to look out for when buying a range rover? My budget would is around upto £10 k.....what are my options here?

thanks in advance :)

Welcome aboard and what a good question !

I would personally steer clear of the Range Rover simply because of reliability... Having said that, they did have a period with BMW units anyway !

The X5 is a far better built car but will always live in the shadows of a Land/Range Rover ;)

I'd have an X5 over a Range Rover though

Hi,

If you need any assistant with insurance please feel free to drop me line.

Regards,

Dan.

For £10k go for the X5. Range Rovers best engine was the V8 diesel, but would be a really rough one for that kind of money. The RR and X5 both used the same 6cyl engine but for some reason the RR engine was unreliable, I dont think Land Rover used the ECU, injectors or wiring from BMW, probably got them from Taiwan.
