Have any caravanners had problems with fully wired 13 pin electrics on the X3?

Our new X3 came with a factory fitted towbar but the electrics incomplete e.g caravan fridge not working, caravan 12 volt electrics not disconnected during towing, leisure battery not charging during towing.

Dealer tells us they cannot remedy because of potential fire risk and if we use an independent specialist to wire up, we lose the warranty.

Surely this cannot be true?

Any comments please?

New one on me... There should be a cut-off/regulator module installed or available !

Just had the same problem. Apparently factory fitted tow bars arrive with German standard wiring. Does not run the fridge or charge caravan battery. There is a 'dual' wiring addition required. It's in the small print. It can be retrofitted. I have recently had this down. If you bought it new, your supplying dealer might do it for free. Otherwise about £350.

I recently grounded my electric tow cable and our Thetford Fridge went off for a couple of days and then strangely came back on.  It works on 230volt and gas but not on 12volt from the car?  I replaced the cable on the caravan and discovered there was no power to the grey cable suggesting a blown fuse.  I have checked the fuses BMW use for the towbar sign on their card but they are all good.  Anyone know which fuse may have been used before I have to check every fuse on the panels.?
