Has anyone ever (or even thought about) converting an E30 Touring into a Pick Up truck or a small Van like an EscortorAstratype thing? I been readingabout the Pick Up Truck idea and it seems like a lot of people do it. I just wondered if anyone had done it or thought about it or any view/opinions or anything like that? I'm bored of the Tardis now and I want to turn it into something spectacular but I'm not convinced it will be worth it. Though I do like the idea quite a lot, of doing track days in a Pick Up or a small Van. Any thoughts?

A massive welding job fella... The obvious being the lateral strengthening after you cut off the roof via C & D pillars !!

Yeah I think a van would be a better option, but Ithink some of the pick ups look incredible.

Don't see the point of a van tbh... Why not just limo-tint the glass ? !!

Dunno, trying to shed weight. I would be ok with a pick up, just fabrication would messme up a bit, or I could cut it in half and weld it together to make a tiny touring! Haha.

Shed weight ??

Replace all seat with bar-stools !

Only ever have a quarter tank of fuel...

... And go on a diet yer fat git !  :P

Haha yeah I wanna take it to track days, maybe on a trailer, don't wanna have totake another test just to trailer it so wanna shed weight to go quicker and meet trailer weight limitations :) Plus gassing around in a pickup looks proper fun :P

The removal/manipulation of ANY body panels including glass effect the structural integrity of the vehicle. When the car was but only a dream and a sketch on paper, one of the first things being factored in was the way everything holds everything else.

The E30 Touring was designed/built by one engine who worked for BMW and the amount of work he had to put into the car just to convert a saloon into an estate was phenomenal! Just imagine hacking away at it yourself outside your house to make it a pick-up? She'll drive like an absolute donkey when your done.

Keep her as she is or get rid bud

Interesting thought. Thanks, I guess it will be getting scrapped in the long run then.
