  1. Just found this and thought it would answer some of your questions.

Not sure if I'm allowed to do this and apologies if I'm not, copied it from another forum where the chaps selling the pipe. Thought the other info on the benefits would aid.

BMW M57N2 x35d DPF removal downpipe

Requires software upgrade, this is the downpipe only.

The Diesel Particulate Filter on the below BMW models is renowned for blocking and requiring replacement at a cost in the region of £1400. When faulty the DPF causes substantial loss of power and impacts fuel economy dramatically. This is a fix and forget solution!!!

Anyone throughout the UK and Europe can now purchase our DPF removal pipe for this vehicle and release the true potential of this incredible engine.

Performance and economy software available up to 360bhp!!! Please enquire for details...

    Very Important

Fitting this downpipe without the correct software upgrade will result in premature turbo failure. In order to disable the function of the DPF and align the turbo pressure to the new downpipe our software upgrade is essential. This service is available throughout the UK at a cost of £399 or alternatively the complete DIY package is available here.

    What's in the package?

3" Bore downpipe with machined stainless steel turbo fitting, uprated stainless flexi section, milled fittings for lambda and temperature sensors.

This downpipe is a direct bolt-on replacement for the Diesel Particulate Filter and downpipe that are fitted to the car from the factory.

Built for performance, economy and longevity!

Performance - You will enjoy reduced turbo lag and a noticeable performance difference throughout the entire rev range, the original downpipe exits the turbo with an immediate restriction. The DPF is designed to collect the particulate matter (soot) in the exhaust and then at extreme temperatures, burn the deposits off into ash. This poses a restriction in the exhaust system and by design induces excessive temperatures which have a direct effect on your turbocharger and intake temperatures. Removal of this filter will result in an excellent improvement in fuel economy and when coupled with the performance software, the new behaviour of the vehicle is remarkable. Turbo life will be extended and turbo lag will be substantially reduced.

Economy - You will experience a 5-10 mpg improvement over the original DPF depending on your driving style and software selection.

Longevity - Your upgraded downpipe is over-engineered in 316 Marine Grade Stainless Steel and the flexible coupling in 304 Grade Stainless Steel, flanges are laser cut for a perfect fit and finish, your new downpipe should outlast the life of your vehicle. You should also expect extended turbo life as a result of reduced turbo temperatures.

How does it fit? - This downpipe was carefully developed using the Genuine BMW factory item as a template and tested on the vehicle, improvements were made to flow where possible. Every downpipe is hand made using a jig ensuring a perfect fit every time.

Noise - There is no noticeable difference to the sound of the exhaust on mild to medium throttle levels. At full throttle the whistle of the turbo is more audible.

MOT - Removal of the DPF on the listed BMW models has no effect on the MOT smoke test. Your engine will produce a more complete combustion and has been tested to pass the MOT smoke test without any issues. Petrol cars differ as they are subject to a full emissions test.

Quality - Our exhaust components are built with over 20 years experience in all kinds of fabrication and welding you can be assured that the quality of your new performance downpipe will be second to none!

  2. I bought the car done and used a trust worth friend of mine, who specialises in high performance cars. He's based in Coventry. I just told him the car I earned, age and colour. Once he got one I let him do his thing to it, one of which was the re map.

I just made sure it wasn't generic and wasn't pushing the car to the limits. It's now tastefully quick without loosing the prestige it deserves.

  3. Morning,

As it was Wednesday, yesterday I attend the old VAG meet to find over 200 cars at a new location with a huge selection of German Cars. They ranged from VW through to BM and Mercs and the old American muscle to add a little sour taste lol.

The meets well organised and doesn't have the usual Chavs sitting in the corner smoking weed and dropping litter from mc Donald's. As its put on in gated car park area and the organisers only allow the enthusiasts in, which creates a fantastic atmosphere.

If anyone's interested in popping down and having a look and meeting a few other enthusiasts and showing off you BM come down!

  4. Hello buddy.

Only being new to the BM scene and diesel scene to, I've searched this subject on a number of forums. From what I understand the best practice is to find a company that removes the DPF internals rather than add a pipe as the MOT stations have been told to visually inspect the DPF to make surfeit has one. Obviously adding the new pipe will fail the MOT.

Your find numerous mixed reviews on this subject, where many will argue that it's there for a reason! I'm not a mechanic and or a engineer to discuss the aspects of why its there and the complete purpose but I do understand why it's there and what it does. Perhaps do the same as I did first and just research a few other forums.

Apparently it doesn't make any difference to the remap!? My 330d is remapped and still has the DPF and goes like stink. So something to consider.

Sorry if I'm informing you of info you already know.

  5. I'm after a tasteful after market spoiler for my E90.

Is or has anyone got any good suggestions on reliable companies that supply them. I'd prefer similar to the M3 one, which is a slight lip rather than a chunky one.

I've looked on EBay and like the F30 rear spoilers can hey be fitted to the E90?

  6. I appreciate this is a slightly old topic, and I'm new to the forum but I have a large car park in Coventry that I can make available.

It's used by a local scooby club so there is ample space to have a large number of cars on the site, they already have a catering wagon which can be made available and a valeting company who offer discount on cleaning and valeting if wanted.

Either way its available and I'd be happy to sort it.

  7. Just a quick introduction.

I'm new to the BMW world having just purchased my first. I decided to go the full hog, but also economical so went for the E90 330d m sport. Having spent numerous years with the VAG group and the Jap market.

So bare with me if I start asking simple questions, just remember I'm new.

Just a preview of my new toy!
