  1. Hi all, after the number of reports in the media, including the TV program Watchdog regarding the thiefts of BMW's and other makes of cars I'm slightly getting concerned with my 5 series M Sport. Recently in Essex there has been a spell of 2005-2010 E60 M Sports being stolen including 5 that went last Sunday night all in different areas. I've been looking into Steering wheel Locks (Disklok, Stop Locks etc...) but unfortunately none of these work well with the M Sport Steering wheel, either causing it not to fit on the rim of the wheel of causing problems with the horn going off... I was advised today from a local cars spares outlet that there isn't a steering lock for M Sport Steering Wheels, my next point of call will be a local BMW dealer to see what there take on this is. Is there anyone out there using a crook lock type system as a deterrent and if so what make... As ever your help, pictures and advice will be appreciated.
  2. have a E60 525d M sport LCI model and want to change the Angel Eyes Halo blubs to LED/Cree, but with so many choices out there and so many different types, I'm confused what to get. Ive have a look on eBay and there is literately load of different ones. So my question is can someone recommend a particular make and what type LED or Cree??? If LED then what wattage/ Colour Temp If Cree then also what Wattage. any advise or pictures of your own Angel Eyes will be much appreciated
  3. Hi All, I'm looking into buying a BMW 525d M Sport Auto (E60) 2009 (59) LCI, and just wanting some advise on what i should be looking for, if any problems at all. The car itself ive been told has a Main Dealer Service History with 83K on the clock, but thought id ask you experts on here what i need to know so at least i'm prepared when looking at the car. I'm thinking of taking a scanner with me just to see if any codes appear and if so what they mean. Can anyone on here tell me just a few tips on what to look for/ask. Any advise, tips, whats good/bad or anything in general would be much help to me and much appreciated. I thank you all in advance
  4. Depends where you get the parts from, suspension parts can be cheap if you look around. then again, best to check that out before buying an M Sport..... Turbo issues seems to be on Pre LCI models (years 05-09) more than LCI's (year 09-12) from what ive read and it dont seem to matter what mileage they have done. Ive read some going at 40000 miles!!! so they can go at any mileage if not maintained properly, ie oil and breather filters not changed regularly, wrong grade of oil used, etc.Letting the engine tick over for a few mins before switching it off helps the oil seals too. An e90 Pre LCi go for around £4k upwards with 100k on the clock. LCi's from 2009 go for around £8k upwards.
  5. Hello, I've had my 320d M sport now since last year, and I'm impressed with it. It's a 2009 LCi model with Start/Stop function and it drives like a dream, as the last post said on here, drive it sensible the your get 50-55 mpg, drive it hard and fast then your looking around the 30's mpg. There good on long runs, comfortable and well equipped. Yes speakers do let it down, but there is a Tweeter modification you can get which involves replacing the inner door trim which houses the new tweeter. (I've not done it so not sure what the outcome is) As for servicing them, well there pretty cheap enough, and if you know what your doing then even better. I've just done a complete Front and Back brake pad change including sensors for £80. Rear tyres do wear a bit as they would for a Rear wheel drive car. I managed to bag a pair of part worms with 5mm tread left for £60 You asked about modifications, all I did was stuck a K&N filer on mine and some diesel injector cleaner in the fuel tank and I really noticed the difference. Mines now on 98k and I'm selling it to get a 5 series, but it's been one of the best/fun cars I've had in a long time. Good luck.
  6. My mate bought the same as you thinking he could fit a sat nav in, turns out it's gonna cost him around £700-£800 to do. Complete new head unit and GPS cable and then gotta be programmed in. Hope this helps you
  7. Cheers gazzdid, got no replies on here as of yet. Still searching for a 525
