  1. I've replied to your other post
  2. I would say it is a little low at 25mpg
  3. I reckon that would polish out with some 3M Fast cut plus and a da polisher
  4. I've driven both manual and auto 530D vehicles. The manual is very nice but I have to say I prefer the autos. Very smooth and the steptronic is excellent.
  5. Well I bought a 2003 E39 530i Champagne and then last the car i was originally looking for, week a E38 728i sport. Not sure the wife wants me to keep both!
  6. Hi, I'm looking for an excellent example of a E38 Sport model. I'd prefer a 728i but possibly open to a 740i as well. I am wanting an auto / steptronic box, and the car preferably in a blue, black or silver colour. Must have been well serviced with a documented history. I'm located in Devon but will travel a reasonable distance to view. Thanks for looking, Steve
  7. I may well do that. I've just had my Jaguar XKR mot'd so may have to sell that to fund a decent new shaped E60. I drive a 530D at work which is very impressive, so I can only imagine what a 550 will be like. Thanks for the advice.
  8. Thanks for the advice. I've also spoken to a friend who is the workshop manager at a bmw garage. He advised me to stay away as I'd it went wrong it would be expensive and bmw wouldn't like to work on it as they see so few. He said one customer spent 30k in 3 years when his went wrong !
  9. Radioman, many thanks, it looks a bit of a daunting car at first glance. I probably will not be doing more than 2000 miles per year, I may just take a punt and have a look at the one on e bay that has a very good service history. Cheers Steve
  10. Many thanks for the info, very useful. I am beginning to think it could be more of a money pit than my XKR
  11. Hi Daz, Its an E38 1999, 750iL currently on e bay
  12. Hi, I'm not yet a BMW owner, I'm looking to change my Jag XKR for a classic BMW, probably a 7 series. Just thought I'd pop in and say hi as I'll probably be making good use of these forums! Cheers Steve
  13. Hi, I'm looking at a 750iL on flea bay which looks very nice. I can't find very much information on these cars on the internet and what I can find is conflicting. I am quite handy with the spanners, however this car seems to be at another level. Can anyone please advise me what to look for and whether these particular 7 series cars are ones I should stay away from? Thanks for any advice. Steve
