  1. Hi Philip...welcome to the Forum I know what you mean about the mpg claims, I drive a Honda CRV as a daily smoker and I have never managed to get near the claimed figures but the way I see it is if I am happy with what I'm getting and its more than I get from my Z3, I can live with that! Look forward to reading your posts in the future Cheers, Trevor
  2. Hi Gary...welcome to the Forum Glad you're enjoying your Beemer, they really are great cars! Post up a piccy of it if you like Cheers, Trevor
  3. Oh very nice indeed...looks amazing with the hard top on
  4. Hi Len...welcome to the Forum! Great looking car...and just the right weather for it as well. Enjoy!! Cheers Trevor
  5. Hi Stuart....welcome to the forum! Not sure apart from BMW themselves (sometimes not too bad price wise for certain parts) or look in Germany as loads of BMW suppliers there. Let us know how you get on with your search Cheers, Trevor
  6. Hi Richard...welcome to the Forum! I don't believe the problem is with the AFM as the sensors on the Beemers are generally quite reliable. The 1.9 is not too potent. I've got a 2.0 litre Z3 and that's pretty gutless so I'm in the process of upgrading components. My thoughts to go forward for better acceleration are a remap which will definitely improve things and the exhaust system is standard and therefore loaded with lots of factory restrictions. After that, you could look at a cold air intake system to improve things. Let us know how you proceed with any mods or upgrades Cheers, Trevor
  7. Hi Richard...welcome to the Forum! I'm not sure but if you run a multimeter around the car, I'm sure there must be something local to where you want to locate the lamps. Let us know how you get on with it Regards Trevor
  8. Hi Andrew...welcome to the Forum! I'm personally not sure which springs to go for but I would think the best thing is to ask the individual manufacturers as to their recommendations and see what they say but if you measure the gap between the bottom of the wing and top of the tyre and then you'll know how much drop you can get away with for a start. Let us know how you get on with it. Regards Trevor
  9. I suppose Bosch would be best although I'm not a big fan of the brand, the sensors generally are okay
  10. Hi Kevin...welcome to the forum! Definitely a mid-life crisis, lol I also have a Bimmer convertible (Z3) and a GS1200 bike :-) Look forward to chatting further about mid-life, etc Cheers Trevor
  11. Not sure really, but electronic sensors are susceptible to vibration, heat and moisture...all three being present in the DSC sensor environment. Also, the brand quality can also be an issue...maybe worth looking at an alternative make of sensor?
  12. Hi Steve...welcome to the Forum! Have seen posts about retro-fit electric mirrors on other vehicle make forums so it is possible as the manufacturers usually run the wiring to where the (modified) switch would be and then the dealers/manufacturers can then just fit the folding mirror package as required. I would imagine you need the replacement parts (eBay?) and then code it into the electronic body control system once fitted. Anyone else done this mod? Cheers Trevor
  13. Welcome to the forum! Have you managed to run a scan to see which sensor it is this time? Would be back luck if it's the same one gone faulty. Cheers Trevor
  14. Here is some info on the variable acoustic manifold system (if it's the same system as yours) http://www.forzagb.com/tech/ http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-x-22-mm-Swirl-Flap-Flaps-Replacement-Removal-Blanks-Gaskets-for-BMW-2-0-M47-/181544146050?hash=item2a44dfd482:g:9DgAAOSw5IJWflKT
  15. Absolute winner! Great result...that is really good of BMW, maybe though they know there is an issue with these boxed if they're failing early and only pull them in if the customer complains.
  16. That's and expensive failure! I would try to find a specialist gearbox rebuilder in your area who could just replace the defective synchro and anything else that looks like it could be worn. Maybe cheaper than a whole replacement gearbox Let us know how you get on with it
  17. Hi John...welcome to the Forum! You certainly like your Beemers then! Good to have you onboard and look forward to reading your posts Cheers, Trevor - Admin
  18. Quite agree with you John...get rid of the emissions related equipment it was only ever fitted to allow the manufacturers to produce vehicles that met the Euro Cat requirements. After that, its not really needed...ditch the exhaust acoustic valve (if still present in the rear silencer) the EGR and any Cats in place. If an engine is running extremely well then its all unnecessary
  19. That does not sound like a good situation then as you say it fits well but if it does not fully lock in then it's probably not worth taking the chance.
  20. That's not a bad price for all those parts being fitted...result !
  21. Hi Roger...welcome to the Forum! Sounds like it needs some WD40 as something maybe sticking? When it locates and you turn it surely it should snap into place...if not then the mechanism maybe sticking slightly. Not sure if I'd want to use to tow with if I'm not satisfied that its not secure. Check eBay for replacement ones, there are some on there but they're not cheap! Anyone else know what the issue is and a solution?
  22. Hi Andy...welcome to the Forum! It's good that you have both types of Beemer...hardtop and soft top...both are superb cars. Do you have any pictures of them to post up on here? Good luck with the Z4 repairs...let us know how you get on with it Cheers, Trevor
  23. Best bet is to take it in for a scan to see what the codes are for and go from there really. Hopefully, nothing too expensive
  24. Hi Javaid...welcome to the Club! I don't know of any specialist garages in your area that I could recommend but if it's just a service and brake pads, I think you should be able to find someone local who can carry out those tasks competently and at a reasonable price. Maybe worth looking for a Bosch Service Centre or something similarly branded? Let us know how you get on Cheers, Trevor - Admin
  25. Hi Sundeep...welcome to the forum! I'm not entirely sure but I think they are an option on the Z4 as well Let us know how you get on with acquiring a 1 series Beemer Cheers Trevor - Admin
