  1. Spent this weekend doing the filter and fluid change on the auto box.
Had the lurch when coming to a stop (once gearbox oil came upto temp).
The change seems to have cured it by around 80% i reckon. Only lurches
every so often now. and it seems to be when coming to a complete stop
from quite a speed such as 30-0 rather than gradually slowing down. I
will be doing another filter fluid change in around 1k miles to ensure
majority of the fluid is new-ish.

Also did the transfer box and 2 diffs. My! What a difference, So much smoother.

For the diffs (used just under 3 litres in total):

For the AutoBox and Transfer Case/Box

The autobox used around 4.5 litres (thats what came out) and the transfer case used around 3/4 of a litre.

    Hope this helps.

  2. No its not science its fact, mine is a 55 plate E60 and these figures are achieved by a remap not a plug in.take a look at their web site or Superchips as they both tell marginally different stories but almost the same. these guys at Custom Tuning have a 4 whell rolling road up to 1000bhp and they can just do the remap there and then, mine took 45 mins.

Sorry i meant 'Remap Science' ( as in the Company name)

I thnk they are called rolling road tuning centre now.....

  3. is it just a cat back system or full exhaust system?

    Maybe worth doing a de-cat?

Also ensuring there is a decent cold air feed going to the huge filter you have......

As mentioned a good custom remap shoule iron out the flat spots and increase torque too.

Failing that not much more to be had in terms of 'cheap mods' on a N/A car.

  4. 2 ways to do this.

1: Get the 'xenon style' bulbs, which are normal halogen bulbs with a blue tint on them which give a 'whiter light' (This will never look xenon though and normally these are in higher wattages than OEM which is 55w, so they tend to either melt the bulb holders or they blow out quite regularly)

2: Fit a Canbus compatible HID kit. Colour temp 4300k/5000k for OEM look - this will give you alot more light and a better look.

PM me if you want to discuss further. :)

  5. Hi that looks like a H11 HID BULB.

More than likely the issue coul be with the ballast itself (which is what the bulb would have been connected to). Either the correct ballast was not fitted (canbus compatible - error free) or it is actually faulty. The bulb visibily looks ok, when a HID bulb goes faulty or blows you can see a lot more milkiness in the tube and around the spheric bit.

  6. if it starts a little rough in mornings could be glow plugs. INPA will show up as 'Glow device'

But as said above, whiteish smoke is normal. Worn valve guides would be blue ish smoke and a distinct smells. Same for rotten turbo (plus you would smoke the whole street out)

  7. guys, i can report back on my remap with Custom Tuning in Bradford.took my 530d from 231bhp to 265bhp and from 490nm of torque to 560nm. the result is a much smoother delivery of power as no flat spots and the throttle response is quicker,a much improved driving experience and worth the money. special offer for Feb is £150.00 and what a difference. will sort out the fuel economy as they say it should improve as long as my driving doesn't change, yet to realise the improved economy as enjoying the power up grade way too much. before remap i averaged 39.7 mpg on mway runs and i hope to get that above the 43mpg. let you know but defo book it in for the power increase as wonderful.

    is this remap science?

i had my previous E39 530d done there. I went from 193bhp to 235bhp and torque upto 398ft/lbs.

  8. An umber of things can cause this.

Get back to Ian on your location as his offering a good service.

Sounds to me like a vacuum leak and/or a possible sticky throttle body. Get yourself a can of Carb-Cleaner and start cleaning bits within the respiratory system.

    Daz

This man is on the ball, defo sounds like a vacuum leak. (most likely after the MAF)
