Hi Ian glad its all sorted for you, they probably gave the head a light skim of around 4tho or so as they don't warp and the black marks are down to blow through from cylinder to cylinder but quite normal, the new gasket is a moded item and far more substantial, enjoy your car mate
Stephen
Of course the head can warp

Sorry ,just seen that there is a problem. If you search on you tube, there is a company in Birmingham that make one. Although, unless it locks onto the port, it looks a waste of money

Why would you need such a device?

I'd be interested in a meet

Welcome to the site. Car looks great. Noticed your number plates. Do you use them on the road? I was going to buy a set but got put off by people saying I would get stopped constantly

No idea, sorry. To quote Grange Hill, "Just say no" i thought everyone knocked back the first offer

Arnold Shark will do nothing but the bare essentials to a car. Salesmen only get percentage of profit, so DMF and clutch would have wiped most of the profit. Worked with them for a year, always tried to put the blame back on the customer. Even in-house dealings were the same, one dealership refusing to pay another dealership because of bonuses. Couldn't wait to get out

Boys at A4Audi, B4BMW are really good. A lot cheaper than main dealer and only use OE parts

If there is oil in the exhaust its normally a turbo, when i say blue smoke its just a tinge of blue mixed with white. EGR valves always have a black sludge deposit. it is a stupid design. An alternative to a compression test is a sniff test, most garages will have the equipment, a lot cheaper and quicker than taking out glow plugs.

Welcome to the forum. Nice car. Can only imagine Connect drive is a variation of i drive

Congratulations mate. Enjoy

Turbo/oil is usually blue smoke, head gasket is white. You need to clear the codes and restart the engine and then re use the code reader and then start looking. Without actually seeing the car, I would guesstimate a head gasket. How was the temp before it blew?
