  1. Hi all The windscreen wipers stopped working on my (otherwise immaculate & well-cared-for) 2006 Z4 M roadster earlier this week, so, after checking all the obvious things - fuses/relays etc, off I went to the BMW specialist garage I use for all my servicing for them to have a look at it. Alas, their diagnostics machine couldn't ID the fault, so, with a sharp pain in my wallet (already), off I went to the BMW main dealer. They detected the fault (£94) & told me something called the 'basic module' (which I've since identified as the GM5) needed replacing, & it would cost me...........everyone sitting down..........£526 + VAT to have it fixed!!! Apparently this module controls wipers, windows, mirrors (& I think, the electric roof). Needless to say, I'm more than a little hacked off that such an apparently minor fault will cost so much to fix. Has anyone had any similar experiences with this module, can it be fitted DIY, etc. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in anticipation Paul
