  1. if you can afford to run it, deffo the 325 BUT im sure you can find a better spec than that one (personally i hate red). Try find a nice 325 with leather, they are out there and if you have to travel just do it. good luck with the serach :)

  2. Do you still have codes showing?? although the occ sensor is common it is not always the cause, see what the codes say and replace the offending part, mine was on because of a faulty seatbelt tensioner and it was then a pain to get the light off, it took 4 or 5 attempts to get in off. good luck mate hope you find the fault.

  3. has anyone done a satnav upgrade, Ive found a site that will supply me a new disc for £30. Its supposed to upgrade to speed cameras and better maps etc, Im a little nervous about sticking foreign things in my slot, in the biblical sense of course.

  4. I too am pondering over a remap on my 535D, After some homework Im considering Emaps to do the business £300ish. DMS is supposed to be the best one but at £900?? give your head a shake    .

On other forums there are lots of comments from people who have happily had remaps done. Ive not come across any that have suffered because of them. Here is an article you may find of interest: http://www.remapsuk.com/blog/?p=251

From what ive gathered so far. make sure your car can comfortably handle the extra ooomph so I wouldnt just opt for the one offering max power. Use a reputable company who offer aftercare and backup, there a lots of people doing this who have just bought a laptop and some software.

Inform you insurance company that your turning your stock beemer into a rocketship, I hate that they will up the premium BUT if you dont tell em and you loose it and kill someone they will find the remap and you are up the swanny with void insurance.

A few years ago I had an Audi 2.5TDI. Had it chipped and had a Merc MAF installed, 40BHP increase and it did no harm whatsoever , I kept the car for two years and it was still going strong when I sold it with 118k on the clock. The MPG was improved dramatically, 3 years ago I did Manchester to London and back on £25 (unbelievable but true) and it use to wheelspin in 3rd in the wet. :) :)

Gonna have mine done a few weeks before my warranty expires (work it out yourself) I'll post when its been done.

    Good luck with the rocketship

  5. Right then, this is easy peasy.

I have just upgraded from an E39 530D to an E61 535D m sport touring. I think the best way to describe this machine is OMFG........ 4 weeks in and Im still grinning like a Cheshire Cat everytime I squeeze that right pedal. Its an awesome drive, totally effortless power and so refined, I must admit the build quality is not quite up to the E39 but who cares.

My buying tip.. IMO its important to find the right car whether it private or trade, if its not been looked after and loved... WALK AWAY.... main dealers will offer great warranty etc but you are gonna pay for it on the price of the car. In addition Im pretty sure you will struggle to find an 06 plate in the dealers.

If you buy a pre 07 LCI you'd be advised to have the swirl flaps removed, (engine fatality if one breaks), Camshaft sensors are prone to fail as are the rubber vacuum pipes from the turbos (these are reletively cheap fixes). Try are get a post 07LCI with more miles these engines are fantastic but if problems do arise they tend to be with age rather than milage. Gearboxes are bulletproof. Runflat tyres are expensive to replace and alot dont like them but thats another story.

Finally, get a good spec. If you dont your going to be putting your hand deep in your pocket for upgrades. I set myself a minimum of Pro Satnav, heated leather, media pack (bluetooth phone and AUX USB ports).

Good luck with your search. If you fing one, make sure you post again, I guarantee you'll be smiling like a little kid in the sweet shop.
