Well I've found some on eBay as I'm after some xenon ones. I messaged the seller and he said he sells them through an E36 forum and no ones had any problems so far. Just thought I'd ask anyway, thanks :)

Hi all! Does anyone know if all E36 number plate bulbs are the same? I feel singled out with mine as she's on a 2000 plate so get easily confused with all this 36 or 46! Thanks :)

The brightness. The ones I posted the item number too are listed as 8K. I know when I had my Audi before the hids I had were 6K so just wondered what the standard ones are as I've seen new bmws with them so wanted to compare.
