  1. Thanks for the info pal. V much appreciated!. All the best
  2. Hey Everyone... All ready for xmas... :-) Anyway.. I just got home from the BMW dealer and i have booked an inspection 1 + brakefluid change as the service schedule requires. They want £225.00 for the inspection and another £135.00 to change the brake fluid.... Also there is a possibility i need new brake pads and discs, but thats not the issue right now.... Ok, i looked around and came across "Servicing Stop"... Anyone used them before? Also, can someone tell me if 'Inspection1' = something like a 6 month/6000mile normal service and 'Inspection 2' = a 'full service' i.e a 12-18k mile service? Thanks for your help and advice on this, i am not 'majorly' grieved to spend the money, as i do want my car to be well cared for, BUT, i would like to make a more informed decision & maybe save some cash in the process, as i have just shelled out £340.00 on a set of Winter Tyres for the old girl. All the best to you all and "Merry Christmas" / "Happy Holidays" ;-) Dave
  3. If it were not for the "hey you had a crash - call me to claim £2k" morons, the insurance we pay may be a little cheaper.... Mine wasnt too bad considering. Only 12 months no claims on a 2002 330i e46 set me back £950.00. For what i want to do to the car, well. Nothing drastic, i just want to keep it as pristine as it 'nearly' is. Small rust bits where the seams meet under the rear light clusters + get the alloys refurbed, oh n maybe change the interior black 'cube' trim to real aluminium would be stunning. Ok, i ran out of cash before the rust repair :-) all the best Daveyt
  4. Alright folkes. Just wanted to share a great place to get winter tyres, or summer for that matter. Some of you may already know the place, but try TyresRus.co.uk. They are superb for prices and information about what you need. Put it into perspective here. I called another place and they quoted me £600 for 4 budget winter tyres. I called these guys on recommendation from my dad and they said, yup mo probs - £85 a corner all in. Thanks tyresrus. You got a deal. :-) BTW, thanks for you guys and gals that gave me some info on my "get rid of my radio cassette" project! all the best - WOW its windy out today. Dave
  5. Hey peeps. Thanks for the comments. The thing is, i really want to keep the car totally OEM. Maybe thats a bit finiky, but what i really want is a double din satnav. I dont want to have to sticka tomtom on my windscreen as i am notoriously bad for keeping a neat and tidy car, that means no cables dangling....yes i have to put up with the trailing cable from the cassette adapter..YUK YUK i hate hate hate it. lol. I am gonna try the cd thing in CDA format and get some tip top cdr, thanks for the tip Gav. cheers all Dave
  6. Afternoon All. Just returned from a trip to weston over the weekend and couldnt help but stare in dismay at the radio cassette in my car. Wire hanging out of the player in order to connect to my ipod, just not cricket if you know what i mean. I like things to be neat and tidy...... Basically, i would love a neat professional looking ipod dock + getting rid of the cassette player (urgently) and replace with a satnav / cd player, as..... the flaming multichanger wont recognise cd's burnt through itunes or media player in any format, aac, mp3, wav...etc tried everything, it just says NO DISC....a tad frustrating as you can imagine. Any thoughts/ideas on cost, difficulty of install, and any other options i may have to rid myself of the tape! all the best to you all and thanks for any light you can shed.... P.S, i also want to upgrade to LED rear lights as i am sick of changing the bulbs in the boot lid. cheers Dave.
  7. A thousand thanks to all of you who said HI!. Much appreciated, actually, where do i post questions about the car? I see that this is for welcome only, but i do have a q about my screen wash bottle leaking but it has no visible holes! all the best Dave
  8. Hi Folkes. Finally, i had the opportunity to buy myself a BMW. :-) After years of driving dreary company cars i had to get my very own car.... It HAD to be a BMW. I dont know what it is about the feeling it gives you to drive one, (all be it an old one), but its not quite vanity or ego, more the fact that when you hit the gas --- it goes --- and when you turn the wheel, oh boy how it turns... Pure driving pleasure. I had no idea how great it is to drive a car that really does exactly what you want it to do, even when just breezing around town! Anyway, enough of that, just wanted to say hi and hope to be an active member here. All the best to you all. Dave
