  1. Hi Dave, I will definitely ask them to check that. Watch this space 😄 Thank you 😊
  2. Hi, Got my X5 in November 2025. The transmission light came on and it turns out there was hardly any fluid in the gearbox. I've since had a full gearbox service. Unfortunately, the gearbox keeps losing fluid but there are no visible leaks. There are no leaks either on the ground where I park. The radiator fluid is full and so is the engine oil. There are no other lights on the dash. The ignition light doesn't always come on either. The gears are worse when starting off. Once the car is running it changes gears ok. If this is a serious problem, I would rather get rid of the car. I can't afford to be spending endless amounts of money trying to sort it out. I will be going back to the garage again next week to get the transmission fluid topped up. It's roughly losing a litre of fluid then the ignition light comes on. If anyone has any ideas, please help. Thank you Christine
  3. Hi Dave, happy to report the car has finally been sorted. It turns out that the gearbox oil was very low. They have cleaned it out and put new oil in. Luckily, there doesn't appear to be any damage to the gearbox🤞. I will see how it goes. Thank you for all your advice, I really appreciate it. I know where to come if I have any other problems 🙄 xx
  4. Hi Dave, car is booked into a local garage for Tuesday 10th. The guy who owns it is an ex BMW mechanic. 🤞I can finally get sorted. I will update you ☺️
  5. Hi Dave, Not a BMW garage. I have found a local gearbox specialist garage. Thank you so much for the information, I will certainly be showing them this. I will let you know how I get on ☺️
  6. Hi Dave, No luck at the garage 😔 They checked all the connections, all ok. They disconnected the battery, which was left overnight, ran a diagnostic test again this morning and the same error code came up. They still say I need to take it to a gearbox specialist. Any advice would be gratefully appreciated ☺️
  7. Thanks Dave I will pass on your advice to the garage. Fingers crossed 🤞 I'm really hoping it is the battery. I will update you on Tuesday ☺️
  8. Thank you for replying Dave. I have watched a few YouTube clips and Googled everything I can. The battery is something that came up a few times. I spoke to the garage about this and it is going in on Tuesday so they can check the battery before I start spending stupid money. I will let you know how I get on ☺️
  9. Hi, I'm new to the site and my 2011 X5 40d E70 is my first BMW (possible my last). The transmission light comes on. I've had it in the garage and the fault code is 4E9B. The garage have advised that the car needs to go to a gearbox specialist. Any advice would be greatly appreciated ☺️
