  1. Thanks Dave. The handbook just refers me to BMW...it's almost as if they don't want people doing any work / maintenance themselves. This is my first taste of BMW's (a strong Ford man) so am looking forward to the potential challenges!
  2. Hello all, I'm sure this has been asked before but I can't find it through searching. Can anyone tell me what the recommended engine oil is for my BMW X5? It's a 2007 3.0d automatic (235bhp). Reg is YL07 XVY. I've spoken to BMW and have been advised the recommended engine oil for the car is Shell 0w 30 - is that accurate? I've seen so many different grades on numerous sites but was wondering if there was an expert in here? Many thanks, Sam
  3. Hi Dave, just wanted to respond and say thanks for your reply. I think the pressure converter that was replaced at the same time as the EGR valve is a bit of a wonky party. I also had the codes read and it turns out one of my glow plugs is dying/dead, so need to replace that as well. Thanks again, Sam
  4. Hi everyone, I've recently acquired an X5 (2007, 3.0 SE diesel) and have an issue I was wondering if you would be able to help with. The car came with the known quacking noise, and I have replaced the pressure converter and the EGR valve at the same time. This has resolved that issue, but now I'm receiving a warning stating 'increased emissions'. Has anyone experienced this before? I've come to the end of my limited youtube-inspired mechanical knowledge and was wondering if anyone could help before I part with lots more ££££ to let someone (BMW?) take a look. I'm South West based if that changes anything! Thanks all, Sam
