  1. Thanks a lot Dave, appreciate the advice! I have installed the door tweets (HK) which had the connector in the door ready spliced from the mids in the doors. I will check out that site and see if that helps. Thabks again! Dan
  2. Hi there, Currently trying to add an amp to my E81 130i. I intend on installing a hifi OEM amp. Looking in the boot (behind the arch liner) I can't seem to find an amp harness. I have attached pictures. Would this harness have been installed ready to plug and play? Or in a non amp car did they not bother? Thabks in advance for the help!
  3. Thanks a lot Dave, I'll check these sites out. Appreciate the efforts 😁
  4. Hi all, I recently had the water pump and thermostat replaced as a precaution (car has done 100k) in my 130i. When I got it back, the orange thermostat warning light appeared on the dash, along with a lack of power. The red thermostat warning light then came on and the car wouldn't start. After letting it cool down I managed to get it home. Spoke to my mechanic who fears it might be the water pump. He said that the 130i rarely suffers with air lock. I had a borg and beck aftermarket water pump installed as it was half the price of the OEM part from bmw. I wasn't sure about this, so i got RAC to come and check it out. He said he bleed the system, and a few air bubbles popped out. He ran it up to full temp and said the fan was cutting in when it should. He took it for a spin and said he didnt get the thermostat warning light, so i presumed it was all tickity boo. But the orange temp warning light appeared again the other day, with loss of power. So i pulled over til it cooled down and yet again managed to get it home. The mechanic who fitted it is due to come check it out on Tuesday morning. My fear is that he might just say its due to the aftermarket part, and then me have to fork out for a genuine one 🙄 If anyone can advise me of possible explanations for this (maybe someone has some experience of this happening) I'd be very grateful. Regards Dan
  5. Dave, your an absolute star mate! Thanks for digging that out for me Appreciate it a lot. I shall order the parts, and report back when fitted. Cheers mate Dan
  6. Okay, so one last question..... Had a second mechanic to take a look, and he has confirmed the rocker cover gasket needs replacing. Same as what the first mechanic said. He has suggested replacing the VVT unit. He said that a genuine bmw rocker cover gasket comes with a VVT? So is it good practice to replace this whilst the rocker gets fixed? Or is it pointless without any symptoms of a faulty VVT? Seems my oil cap gasket has perished too! Which could explain the oil leak. But I'm going to get the rocker gasket done to make sure. Any advice about the VVT? Thanks Dan
  7. Great guys, thanks a bunch for your advice 🙂
  8. Thanks a lot for the response Dave, much appreciated! I done the sensible thing and got a mechanic round to inspect the car. He has confirmed that the rocker cover gasket needs replacing. Along with the camshaft actuator gasket?! Having googled "camshaft actuator gasket" I cannot find anything relating to this. Iv been quoted £420 + vat for the works but I just wanted to see if anyone can shed a light on what a camshaft actuator gasket is? Is it known as something else commonly? Thanks again! Dan
  9. I have recently been quoted £1500 for a head gasket replacement on my 130i So I'd like to diagnose for sure I need this work done! I first started smelling a burning oil smell in the cabin when starting it up. But wasnt always apparant. I took it to my mechanic, who had a quick nose underneath the hood and said it was my head gasket. The left hand side of the engine is oily down below the coolant tank. Opposite side of the engine looks dry and clean. The coolant light came on, and I checked the tank and it was empty. I temporarily replaced it with water and only used it once for a very short journey, but there doesnt appear to me to be a leak in the coolant system as the water hasnt dropped. No milkyness under the oil filler cap or on the insides of the engine. It's done 100k. As far as I'm aware the engine hasnt overheated. Unless the thermostat has gone. And having read that it's very rare for the head gasket to fail I thought I would post this up to get some opinions. Below are some pics of the area in question. Thanks in advance for replies
  10. Hi, I recently replaced my rear wiper motor as it had broken. I purchased a used part (7 119 569) but realised this had slightly different fixing placements. And soon realised I needed 7 119 569 - 02. I cannot find one of these anywhere secondhand, or new! Can anyone point me in the right direction. It has to be the "02" version. Thanks in advance Dan
  11. Hi, Does anyone know where I can get a Alpine Speaker system upgrade for my 1 series. Part No: 65410445684 Iv read in earlier posts it can be bought for around £200! However that was a few years back. If anyone has any links, or even has a used one for sale please let me know. Thanks!

  13. I have checked the VIN decoder out, and I do have S644A Preperation F Mobile Phone W Bluetooth. So I am guessing it was working at some point! Think I need to upgrade my mulf in the boot to a mulf2 hi which has usb, and then run this cable to the centre console in order to install the usb/aux module. Then I will have the radio and the mulf2 coded at the same time. Failing that I'll just scrap the idea completely! Thanks again mate, I'll keep you posted 😉
  14. Tried that and still no luck Dave! I have since looked to see for a microphone in the map light in the headliner, and there are two installed (I'm assuming one for hands free, and one for the voice control). I am starting to think this may be something simple. Maybe someone has replaced the head unit, and it hasnt been coded yet. As everything else seems to be in place. So I will look into getting the HU recoded, and hopefully that will activate my bluetooth. I was hoping to retrofit a usb port in where the aux sits in the arm rest. I have read a few posts about this, and it seems a bit of a headache! If anyone has any info that might help me, or links I'd appreciate it a bucket load. And thanks for the literature Dave, that will come in handy once I get it working! Regards Dan
  15. Well I have now read up a little more, and discovered there are two professional radios available....one has a white connector on the back, and one has a blue one. The blue one I believe is the one I need but I dont have that one! I have the phone cradle in the armrest, picture attached. I dont own an iPhone so this is completely redundant to me! When I check with my phone, no device found. And when I check on the AUX setting it doesnt have any other options. All I was hoping to do was to connect via bluetooth with my phone, and install a usb somewhere but its proving tricky with the OEM radio! I did want to keep it looking standard, but it's looking likely I'll have to install a aftermarket radio. It's annoying as the car already has the mulf2 box fitted to the boot. Thanks for you advice though Dave, its much appreciated!
  16. Dave...thank a lot for the info! Your a top boy 😁 So even thought the EML light has gone, it will still throw up the error code? Might get myself one of those OBDII bluetooth jobbies....had one for my ford focus before! I dont think mine has idrive, as there is no master control for it anywhere. It's a small unit with a circular control is it not? It definitely has the mulf2 bluetooth module, so I will look up on how to pair and remove old paired devices. Failing that I'll have to fork out for a new module and see where it goes from there. When I press the audio button, Bluetooth does not display as an option (see pic) And this is the box I have in my boot. Appreciate the info once again Dave!
  17. Afternoon all! First post by me, hoping for some helpful advice with a few issues with my new 130i m sport I recently bought. It's on an 08 plate. All advice is majorly appreciated. On driving the new baby home, it suddenly showed the EML light and run rough with a lose of power (engine rumbling quite badly). This was after I hit the gas pedal fairly hard. It stopped after a few minutes with the EML light disappearing, and the engine began running back to normal. Iv been advised it could be one of the coil packs jumping and unseating itself. Iv happened once more very briefly but this time it was not after a hit of power. Any suggestions as to what this may be? Secondly, I have been trying to get the bluetooth to work. I have checked the VIN number on a decoder and it has the mulf2 box installed. But when I press the phone button on radio or steering wheel, there is no response. I have checked under the boot carpet and removed the mulf2 unit to check connections etc, but still no luck. Before I go and buy a replacement box, is there any other ideas I could try? This is my first BMW, and to date the nicest motor I have bought! So I'm keen to get everything working and running correctly. Also if anyone has any recommendations for a good mechanic (preferably mobile) in the Essex area, I'd really appreciate it. Many many thanks in advance! Dan
