HI all, been learning that oil seals do go off. Car is now 20 yrs old and just clicked over 100K. Mechanically perfect but has ben suffering with engine oil leaks. I asked the mechanic to take some pics which I will share with you. They replaced the chest plate seals on both sides and the oil cooler seal as being the identified sources of the oil leaks. The rubber portion of the seals and gaskets were brittle, I mean completely hard and brittle, they just snapped when bent. I can see now why there were oil leaks. Just alerting owners of the older cars to the problem. Maybe not a surprise to some but certainly I had no perception of the degradation in the rubber seals. All pics to follow on this with some video also.
