Hi picked up my e36 coupe with a known fault of a faulty drivers window it will go down nice but when going up it stops half way and makes a noise like an ak47 lol and then needs a hand the rest of the way up, now as its my first BM I wanted advise on the matter as still finding my feet with it thanks in advance

Sounds like you need a new window mechanism and motor.

Firstly take the door card off and grease all the moving parts and runners.

If it still does it then the motor sounds worn and maybe the cog mag be also worn out as the teeth on the cog may be worn down.

That sound your hearing like automatic gunfire is most likely the gear on the motor slipping. I would do what Steve suggested

Defo get a new motor/mechanism.Ive done this twice now,easy fix :)
