Hi all not been on for a while mainly because i've no problems with my BM until today!!!! on turning the key to start all electrics are fine and work but there isnt nothing when you go to turn it over...??? Any suggestions would be welcome as it's kind of confusing.... hope someone out there can help :-)

Maybe starter motor? If you can locate the starter motor in the engine bay then give it a few taps with a plank of wood or something it should start up, had the same problem with one of my old E36s!

Hope that helps!

Thans any idea where the starter motor might be??

Have a look near the gearbox :)

As you look from the front, it's on your right-hand side below the intake attached to the gearbox ;)

BTW shame on you for not visiting more often LOL :P

Try hitting the starter with a hammer and wooden block... Worked for me last year :o

+1 to Jas and Def +1 to Dabsy, remember when i was going out with my missus and she had a Sierra saphire and her starter solenoid went and showed her the famous hammer tap on the solenoid to get it started.....earned some very good brownie points ;)

Defo give the starter a tap or 2,or another way is to put the car into gear, handbrake off (unless on a hill, lol) then get out and rock the car back and forth a few times, that usually releases it too :)
