hi, im new today/first message, i have bought this 2005 745i, and the car is locking/unlocking but no signs eg lights flashing/beep to inform me its alarmed, and the red flashing indicater under the interior mirror does not flash, and if i sit in car then alarm it, it does not detect me ?, any ideas please, also i have been having a intermittent miss fire which has not happened in last few days, is this normal ????.

    Could be in Valet-mode... Hold down the lock button for sometime after exiting... Try this several times WITHOUT pressing unlock button !!

    or i should have put ask dabsy.....gotta love a bmw ....Valet mode, one for the future, i remember my x5 doing the same thing but thatwas because it had rolling codes and you had to do something similar as dabsy said....
