Is it manual or auto?

I drag race my Camaro. Going up that same track for hours on end trying to beat my times.

Now ill be honest, iv never drag raced my bmw, but just by adding a Higher ratio rear axle will help you get off the line quicker and get you into the power band faster.. But this is only really good for the 1/4 mile. Normal driving you'll find your top speed is reduced.

Id suggest maybe one from an M3...

If its auto compliment that axle by considering a stall converter of some sort. If its manual convert it to auto. Trust me when i say autos are better than manuals for drag racing!

A stall is when the torque converter locks up under load and you can change this with a stall converter.

Most cars have anywhere from 1,000 to 1,400rpm stalls from the factory. The reason a stall converter works is simple.. an engine at 1,200rpm is only making about 80 or so horsepower (on average), but at 3,500rpm it could be making 150 to 200hp, and obviously trying to get a car moving using 150-200hp is going to be much easier than one trying to launch at 80hp or so. Most engines don't make power until 3,000 or so rpm, hence why when you have a higher horsepower engine with a big cam, you need a higher stall speed so the engine is closer to it's "power band" when taking-off from the line, otherwise it will be a !Removed! off the line.

Just remember.. 80% of the race is the first 100 feet. If you can't get off the line, you are going to lose the race.
